Image
I’m happy to report that a monologue from my play “ Suburban Redux ” has just been published in the new anthology “ Audition Monologues for Young Men: Selections from Contemporary Works .” The monologue is taken from the character of Tristram, a rather shy, awkward young fellow who’s struggling with feelings of self-worth. Published by Pioneer Drama Service , one of the largest play publishers in the United States, the collection is edited by Gerald Lee Ratliff and Patrick Rainville Dorn. This marks the fourth collection of Mr. Ratliff’s that I’ve had the honor of having my work included in, and my first with Pioneer Drama Service. The collection is an ideal tool for auditions, workshops, and acting classes, and includes a detailed guide on how to choose a monologue, develop the character, and audition with confidence It’s available now at Amazon , Barnes & Noble , Waterstones , Pioneer Drama Service and other fine retailers.

“Suburban Redux” Audio Book Now Released!

The novella adaptation of my play “Suburban Redux” has now been released as an audio book and is available for purchase on Amazon , iTunes and the Audible website. The book is narrated by the wonderful Mill Scott, who has brought her exceptional talents to this rollicking yet poignant tale about love, truth, and acceptance. She captures the essence of each character perfectly and brings just the right amount sly wit and emotional honesty to make this romantic comedy for the modern family a joy to listen to. “Suburban Redux” is a witty satire set in the South of England and centers around a bored housewife, her presumed gay son, and supporting characters with secrets of their own! Reviews for the stage version of the book: "A witty drawing-room comedy à la Oscar Wilde...Shocking admissions, tearful recriminations and several jolly good laughs...Highly entertaining" --The Montreal Mirror "A stylish Wildean comedy...The writing is finely tuned...Consistently ...

I was recently informed that a monologue from my play “ Suburban Redux ” has been selected for inclusion in a new monologue collection to be published by Pioneer Drama Service, Inc. The new monologue anthology, “Audition Monologues For Young Men 2016,” is scheduled to be published in the spring of 2016 and will be edited by Gerald Lee Ratliff. The monologue in question for this particular book comes from the rather shy, awkward character of Tristram. Pioneer Drama Service is an Englewood, Colorado-based publisher of plays and musicals, and is one of the largest play publishers in the United States.

Suburban Redux Now Available on Amazon

It’s taken a while, but the original play script of Suburban Redux is finally available in the Kindle Store. This is the expanded, full-length continuation of my popular one-act play Cuthbert’s Last Stand , which is also available on Amazon. Suburban Redux received its debut production through Unwashed Grape Productions (under the title “Cuthbert's Last Stand - Uncut!”) at Théâtre Ste-Catherine, in Montréal, Canada back in 2006, before going on to a highly successful run at the Lowry Lab Theater in Minneapolis, MN in 2011, produced by Gadfly Theatre Productions . Back then, GTP was a start-up company and Suburban Redux was chosen as its premier production. I'm happy to see that they've gone from strength to strength since that time. The play also has a number of its monologues published in various audition monologue anthologies scattered around the country, so anyone coming across one of them and wanting to read the entire script can now do so. Also, for those who...

"What's the Meta?" New Publishing Deal

Image
You may remember a few months ago that I was happy to announce a new publication opportunity for my short play "What's the Meta?" in the upcoming tenth edition of the Bedford/St.Martin’s textbook The Bedford Introduction to Literature (which should be released any day now). I can now report that the play will also be featured in two additional publications by Bedford/St.Martin’s: Literature to Go, 2/e (softcover and electronic formats), and The Compact Bedford Introduction to Literature , 10/e (softcover). The first book is scheduled to be released this summer, and the second at the beginning of 2014. The play was first published by Smith & Kraus in the anthology 2 009: The Best 10-Minute Plays for 2 or More Actors (Contemporary Playwrights Series). I'm so pleased to see this play take on a life of its own. I wrote it as a little homage or love letter to art of making theatre, so it's very gratifying to see it receive such a warm reception fr...

Gadfly Theatre Productions is a professional, non-profit theatre and arts organization promoting socioeconomic justice, individuality, and equality for all. Suburban Redux will complete the young company's inaugural season. The play will run until June 5th and details can be found here . Gadfly are a terrific group of people and you can check out production photos, outtakes and more (along with their very witty introductions to all of the play’s characters) on their Facebook page here . Please note: If indeed the world does come to an end on Saturday, as many have predicted, the play’s U.S. premiere will be delayed until further notice.
